Summary
Instrumental. The Krell are the extinct alien species in Forbidden Planet (1956) who built a civilisation of incomprehensible technological power and were destroyed by their own unconscious minds made manifest by that power. "Krell Fundamentals" suggests a primer or textbook — as if the listener could study and master what the Krell could not. The title appears in the same aesthetic universe as Stromgren Edge (track 3): both are oriented toward a science-as-wonder sensibility. The Krell also appear as a recurring reference in the Colloquium cycle.
