The Therismos (Gk. harvesting) machines are specialist mining and extraction units deployed by the Colloquium for deep-crust operations on dwarf planets, primarily Ceres.

Operation

Therismos units are designed to drill through ancient rocky veins to reach hoarded ice deposits. This water is then processed through solar-powered electrolyzers to produce fuel for interplanetary transit.

Register

The term was first formally codified in Colloquium on Ceres (2063), where it was noted that these machines "drill channels deep to free ice from rocky, ancient veins."
